So really, is there any function the iPad can’t be good at? Let’s take a look at the iPad ebook reader and see how it passes muster. One of the many anticipated uses of the iPad has been as an e-book reader. Comparing a multi-function LCD computer to a purpose built E Ink reader is, well, Apples to Oranges. First among the iPad’s advantages is it’s multi-function abilities. Apple launched the iPad and at the same time premiered their own online bookstore.
At just 0.5-inch thick, the iPad is surprisingly (and definitely not an unwelcome surprise) thin. The iPad’s 9.7-inch colored IPS touch display is a major factor to the tablet’s success. If you’re browsing through a copy of Better Homes and Gardens for instance, or reading a picture book to your 5-year old, then the iPad ebook reader fits the bill to a T.
Apple says that the iPad could go as long as 10 hours on a single battery charge with continued use. That’s understandable and still pretty impressive considering that the iPad can do a lot of things.
All one needs to do is go to the App Store and download the iPad optimized versions of the Amazon Kindle and Barnes and Noble Nook apps. These apps will allow users to access their purchases right on the iPad. The base 16GB iPad with WiFi only costs $499, and the price ranges all the way up to $829 for a 64GB model with 3G and WiFi.
That end-user would see the value in the iPad as an e-book reader to eliminate the need to buy a dedicated reader. The price is of course a factor in any purchase and since the iPad costs so many dollars more than a dedicated ebook reader like the Amazon Kindle, it’s best to assess your needs and budget first before making your decision.

The iPad took the technology world by storm when it was released in April of 2010. Due to favorable reviews and Apple’s massive fan base, the iPad quickly became the powerhouse in the market for tablet computers, representing around seventy-five percent of all tablet sales in 2010.
Followed by the release of the iPad 2 in March, Apple not only improved their tablet, but improved their sales as well. Much of Apple’s stronghold on the market is due to their initial approach with the iPad. Equipped with similar screen size (9-11″), storage (16/32GB), camera capabilities, and dual-core processors, all while priced in the same region, the Android tablets still aren’t selling like the iPad.
Ipad Vs Android Tablets
The first generation iPad was well-received and Apple only improved upon it, while competitors like Motorola and Samsung only tried to replicate or keep up instead of improving on the iPad.
The fundamental difference between the Apple and Android operating systems for tablet computers is that the Apple system is a closed system, specific only to apple devices, while Android is open source.
The Android software platform has been slowly but gradually eating into the Apple market, and, as more firms offer their own versions of Android tablets, this competition against the iPad 2 will increase.
Ipad for Bussiness
The iPad is one of Apple’s most popular products. Take the AirDisplay application for example. This inexpensive app allows users to let their iPad function as a second computer monitor, eliminating the need to purchase an additional monitor that fills desk space and takes time to set up. It may seem minor by itself, but the iPad has feature upon feature that streamlines work operations. Over time, these features can prove to notably improve worker productivity.
The low learning curve of the iPad’s interface makes the unit incredibly usable. It won’t take long for a user to completely master the device’s core functions. The iWork application allows users to construct professional, Excel-type spreadsheets in mere minutes. Saving time on learning complex programs and executing minor tasks eventually results in more time for important operations that need attention.
By offering a combination of versatility, usability, and portability, the iPad proves to be an incredibly useful tool for businesspeople.
